Bit Of It

Thursday. Awoke at six twenty-four after a decent night's sleep, no complaints, although I did awaken for something like fifteen minutes at four-thirty before drifting off again. Probably went over by those twenty minutes because of it. Twenty minutes. No complaints. Wide awake.

We did have showers last night and so the streets were wet. It looked as if the clouds might be breaking up, but drove rather than walked to breakfast. Really don't want to walk home in the rain.

Had the two strips of bacon, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast after feeding the meter for half an hour. Worked out well and ended up driving home at eight-thirty, less a couple of minutes. Couldn't see anything going on at the parking lot at the bottom of my street, but we'll check later this morning as the sun had been breaking through off and on and the weather people are saying little chance of rain now until Sunday.

Later. I hadn't taken a look at Charlie Rose last night and so checked the repeat episode that came on today at noon and watched it with some interest, particularly the Donna Brazil interview, before heading out thinking the sun was shining, why not take a picture or two of the parking lot, see what they were up to?

OK, looks as if they're cleaning up, the “holes” they'd dug, seemingly topped or filled with cement, the pile of earth they'd removed now carted away. I'm assuming it was carted away and they didn't add any of it back into the holes, but what do I know? Still, interesting. There were two cement trucks. Did they fill them with cement? Why?

You could, you know, ask.

Men don't ask for direction(s).

Wandered on then to the burger drive-in to bring home a grilled chicken sandwich. Still somewhat hesitant heading out with a camera in hand, but once out the door the task became lighter. Still. PSTD of a kind. Light weight PSTD, but still enough there to be real.

The news is starting now at two, first the Japanese NHK Newline for half an hour, then the BBC for another half hour ending with the PBS News Hour. As with Trump, these too are becoming more mentally laborious to follow. But we continue. We do.

Evening. The head was been foggy/aching this afternoon and so spent more time than usual lying down, finally taking another dose of the pain meds that seem to have turned it around. Ah, well. Watched Democracy Now! all the way through, both the part I listened to this morning and the balance I missed. A better explanation of what may or may not be going on with Saudi Arabia than any I've heard.

Nothing I'm willing to watch on television and so to bed and tablet early, I'm thinking. Well, a Seattle-Arizona game is playing. Certainly couldn't hurt to watch just a bit of it.

The photo up top was taken at Lake Merritt last month with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 135mm f 2.0 DC Nikkor lens.
