Afternoon
Monday. Lights out by nine-thirty, but then in and out of sleep through most of the night, finally awakening at five-thirty to take the blood pressure (what else?) - 126/70 - before getting ready to walk to breakfast under clear skies, the temperature reasonably good. Arrived at the usual time to find the restaurant open and people inside and so settled in with the papers.
Ordered the chicken-apple sausage, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, just because, and finished up by eight-thirty, walking across the street to document a ten cent a gallon drop in the price of regular, the third drop (twenty-three cents) in three days, before to cross back over and returning home, a picture of the clothing store window for no particular reason, of three bicyclists at the 580 Overpass light, just because they were there, and the usual selfie in the usual place. Nice day, bright sun, but wondering if last night's uneven sleep won't come back to bite in a short while.
Well, if it does you'll take a nap.
Later. Listened to the Ralph Nader Radio Hour at eleven while lying on the bed, the program an interview with John M. Barnett, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner Quality Control Manager at Boeing's South Carolina plant, a whistleblower who stated Boeing's focus on quality control and emphasis on safety had flipped when Boeing merged with Douglas Aircraft and the Douglas management team took over the combined company, shifting the Boeing culture of emphasizing quality control and safety to maximizing profitability similar to the problems that led to the recent crash of the two Boeing 737 Max aircraft for similar reasons.
Barnett: “I haven’t seen a plane out of Charleston yet that I would put my name on saying that it’s safe and air-worthy.” Scary for reasons he laid out in the program. Not very comforting.
Evening. Watched a couple of television episodes of a foreign series I haven't seen before that ran until nine, then went to bed hoping we'd sleep more soundly than we had last night.
A little brief here, is it not?
Stopped writing yesterday just after noon, had difficulty tomorrow morning when I added this, remembering what I'd done other than taking a dose of the blood pressure med in the late afternoon on the one every two day schedule and watching a newly released episode of the Korean series Chief of Staff on Netflix early in the afternoon.
