Here In Oakland

Art & Life

April 29, 2018

Night

Sunday. An uneven night's sleep, but not all that uneven, waking at six to take my time getting ready to drive to breakfast, wondering if the car battery had enough charge to start. It coughed to life, but we need to charge the battery before we set out again. I'm guessing.

Arrived at seven under clear skies just as one of the kitchen staff pulled up on his bicycle to open the door. Had the French toast with coffee over the papers, finishing by nine. I'm not sure all this reading is for the best when you live in interesting times, so interesting it's maybe healthier to read less and put half this ongoing crap out of mind.

You're babbling.

It's early. I did read there's a dance event of some kind going on in Jack London Square later, maybe take the bus to Jack London and see what's been happening these last many - weeks? months? - since I've been there. I really can't remember the last time I was there..

The usual pictures on the way to the car, the car starting this time like a shot, the sun bright and so now another day ahead, a Sunday, here in Oakland.

Later. Walked to the bus stop to catch a bus to the Broadway ATM, thinking I'd head on to Jack London, camera in backpack, but the bus didn't come. Walked back to the apartment thinking I'd wait for an hour to let the head clear, feeling a little woozy, but said the hell with it finally and returned to catch the next bus that arrived at its published (and NextBus predicted) time.

The feeling crappy seemed to be better, not totally, but enough, and so the ATM and then a walk to the return bus stop at Webster and Grand, blowing off any thought of Jack London. Felt better, but not that much better, and well, Jack London. Did I really want to go, dance event or not? Obviously not.

Home to lie down for fifteen minutes before getting up to watch the news and more of yesterday's golf tournament on television. Still clear and sunny, but no thought to go out even with the now clearer head.

Evening. Watched the two Elementary episode reruns that started at five. I'd seen them before, but again had no idea how they were resolved until well toward the end. The sinus-upper palate is letting me know it's there, but otherwise things seem alright. The sinus-palate by itself adds a certain ongoing component to this “wobbly headed” stuff and so we're stumbling a bit, but otherwise a decent night.

At the forming up of the Cherry Blossom Parade last Sunday afternoon in front of the San Francisco City Hall taken with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
