April 30, 2018

Soon

Monday. Nine-thirty, lights out, sleep soon thereafter to awaken at ten minutes to six, getting in a reasonably good night's rest. Out the door to breakfast at six-forty, hoping someone would have opened the restaurant before I arrived. Colder, this morning, walking with the runny nose and watering eyes, but the restaurant was indeed open and all worked out well in Dingle-Dell.

The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, a slight twinge of guilt at ordering the bacon. Animal cruelty, particularly in the raising of pigs, was the thought. Not something I'd have considered when I was younger. Life pries our eyes open a little wider whether we want it to or not.

Bright sun as I was walking home, they're saying up into the sixties today, but partly cloudy or clear for the rest of the week. This last day of April. No complaints, warmer is better, and there are weekend festivals to photograph if I'm able to get my head and feet around the idea of getting out the door with a camera in hand. Another thought I wouldn't have had until recently, this “am I up for it anymore at my age” business. Lets hope I'm just grumbling here in the dark.

Now, now.

Babbling on as we prepare to enter another month.

You got the babble right.

Later. The car battery is charging, the progress light sitting at its lowest point, and so I wasn't far off in worrying it might not start the next time out. Not a lot of use for a car and its ongoing expenses when you don't drive but to the supermarket once a month and to breakfast on Sundays and whenever it rains. It at least allows the cheapest insurance rate.

Otherwise not much more happening than lying down for a while around noon. Felt good. Overcast with breaks in the clouds that let the sun through now and again. Maybe a walk to the store? For an ice cream cone? Tried walking down the lane to check the empty lot that will one day become a construction site, but no changes there. Stood looking down over the parking lot at Grand, but turned around home to listen to the news. No exercise in sitting here listening to the news.

Later still. Processing the Science March pictures I'd taken earlier this month to find I'm about three short of a section. We'll see if I can con myself into using three that aren't good enough to include, but something we'll put off until tomorrow.

Evening. Took a look at the Doc Martin episode at seven, but bailed. A television series about an over the top cranky to the point of autism character, tonight's episode one where they added even more over the top cranky characters to reliably drive me up the wall and so to bed early with lights out soon after, crossing my fingers that breaking the to bed early rules will allow sleep to come soon.
