Eleven

Wednesday. Awoke at six-fifteen (early, but not all that out of line) to get up and drive on a sunny, going to be up in the seventies later morning, arriving to find the restaurant open. OK, head inside, turn on the lights and settle in with the papers.

Tried reading with the mask in place, but found I couldn't fit the reading glasses in place and so removed the mask. Am I wearing the mask in these circumstances in order to let others know that I'm following the rules and deserve a pat on the head or to defend one and all against the virus? A bit of both, I suspect.

The single pork chop, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee over the papers, a young police woman in uniform and then later a young man in civilian clothes entered the room to have breakfast together at the back of the room.

OK, the second time police have arrived (that's when I tried putting on the mask) and so finished up and headed to the car to drive straight home, take the selfie in the lobby and then settling in here with the journal. We seem to do a lot of “settling” these mornings.

Later. A letter yesterday from my Protime blood thinner clinic saying I was two weeks late in getting the Protime test. Please get one or call to see if something else could be set up. Called and ended up arranging for someone to come by Friday to take a prick the finger test (like my old home test system), no drawing blood with a syringe. If the insurance won't cover it I was told it would cost me eighty bucks. Life these days in Virus-ville.

Otherwise watched the governor's press conference at noon, thought about walking to the 7-11 look-alike for ice cream (sunny and in the low seventies at the time), but crapped out. Maybe tomorrow.

Evening. Watched Midsomer Murders straight through for the first time in a while and then to bed not long before ten. Seems about right, any time as long as it's not too close to eleven.

The photo up top was taken at the 2018 Saint Stupid's Day Parade with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
