Here In Oakland

Art & Life

August 25, 2020

Tied

Tuesday Awoke at six-thirty after a decent night's sleep. Nice, the chest not aching nearly as much. Up to walk to breakfast under overcast smoke-filled skies (I assume that was smoke up there, couldn't really smell it), the air cool for a change, to arrive to find all the patio tables in place and so settled down to read the papers.

The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, finishing up at a quarter after nine to walk home under still overcast/smoky skies to take the usual pictures under the lowered light. Makes for problematic results. I did notice the heat has been taking its toll on the flowers, some of those in the sidewalk planters wilting in the heat.

Home to take the selfie in the lobby and settle in to edit yesterday's entry, going through the usual “what in the hell was I thinking of when I wrote this?” upsets before posting and starting on this. Another Tuesday here in Oakland in other words.

Later. Another hour and a half nap just after noon, so it turns out I didn't get enough sleep last night. Seems to be trying to tell me something. Up to get the head together and listen to the news, although the reporting and interviews on the Republican convention were depressing to the point of checking out other channels. Nothing on the other channels, but the act seems to calm me down.

Sunny now, some halfway blue skies directly above, but there's clearly smoke in the distance.

Evening. Piddled away the evening in one way or another, nothing I wanted to watch on television for more than about ten minutes and so to bed well before ten to listen to the last innings of a Giants-Dodgers game on the radio, to sleep not all that long after ten with the game in the ninth inning, the score tied.

The photo up top was taken at the 2013 San Francisco Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D4 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
