Head
Sunday To sleep earlier than usual to awaken just after five, turn the radio on down low and then blink and suddenly discover it was six-thirty going on seven. OK, I'm guessing a decent night's sleep, although I'd like to have listened to Counterspin that started at six.
Out the door to drive to breakfast under overcast skies, wearing a heavier jacket thinking, if the sun comes out and it was warmer than I'd have liked, I'd be driving instead of walking and wouldn't have to worry about the temperature. Arrived, parked in an open spot in front of the restaurant and settled in at my table on the patio to start on the Sunday papers.
The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee again, the weight happily just half a pound over the one-fifty target on the scale this morning, finishing up by nine-fifteen and snapping the usual three pictures I take when I'm driving, taking the selfie in the lobby and settling down at the computer to finish yesterday's entry before posting. Life in the fast lane, here in Oakland.
Later. They're saying the smoke is in the Moderate range, but of course I'm still staying inside. Finally took a walk up the way to the construction site near my apartment and took the usual series of four photographs to show what progress they've been making since I last photographed it on August 9th. Three weeks. I can't tell much if any difference. On halfway back down my hill to check out the lake.
Evening. Surprised to see and read on the news that there was a Black Lives Matter protest that was broken up on Grand at Mandana right outside of my morning restaurant last night. Wonder where they formed up? Most of these things don't get any closer than the lake a quarter of a mile away.
Nothing on television again that I wanted to watch and so to bed to watch more of Black Sun. It's set in Belgium after World War I with English subtitles and I can only half follow the many plots and subplots. The names are weird and so I'm never sure who they're talking about and none of the main characters are particularly appealing, but I seem to watch while only half scratching my head.
