In All

Monday To sleep around eleven again, although waking up early this time at five-thirty and not able to get back to sleep and so listened to the last half of Rising Up With Sonali before Democracy Now! started at six.

OK, set out walking to breakfast on another overcast morning, the smoke index at Moderate in checking the web when I returned, arriving at the restaurant at the usual time to settle in at my table on the patio and start on the papers. Felt good, the temperature cool, but not too cool to be uncomfortable in a long sleeved shirt and light jacket.

The ground beef patty, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for no particular reason, finishing up as usual at a quarter after nine to set out for home to take the usual string of pictures, less one or two that didn't turn out. The auto focus on this camera can look as if it's tack on, but then in looking at it later, it turns out it's not. I miss using the DSLR's, although their size makes them a big “steal me please” sign for anyone who wants to steal them.

A picture of what seems a never ending series of workmen who lay pipes and such under the sidewalk, the selfie in the lobby and then to the computer to edit yesterdays entry before posting and starting here.

Later. The smoke in the local air is now listed as Unhealthy For Some with San Francisco listed as Unhealthy For All, the wind coming off the ocean and so I'm assuming San Francisco's reading will soon be ours. Oh, and the California fire season starts tomorrow.

It's now much later afternoon and my guess we'd be experiencing Unhealthy For All air was way off the mark as it's now listed as Moderate and San Francisco's is a mix of Moderate and Good, this without a change in the wind direction. Still, no complaints about the air being Moderate rather than Unhealthy For All. Won't be going out either way, but what the hell.

Spent most of the afternoon on the tablet again. Not really tired and so no attempts at a nap.

Evening. Finished season two of Black Sun set in Yugoslavia after World War I and, as said, it's an odd mix of common themes - good guys versus bad guys, corrupt bribe taking police and government, over the top violence, naked women - but all taken to extremes and way out of balance from how they're usually mixed.

Nobody's going to understand what you've just tried to describe.

Well, we finished the thing. Lights out by ten again, didn't get to sleep right after, but I'd say a good night all in all.

The photo up top was taken at the 2017 Temescal Street Fair with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
