Arrive
Thursday. Lights out and radio off after the BBC News at nine-thirty, last night, to awaken at five minutes to six, right on target. Up then and out walking to breakfast on another cold, but clear morning, arriving at the restaurant before seven to find it open and people inside. OK, sit down and settle in with the papers.
The plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, we'll stick with the plain waffle over the French toast from here on out. Finished up by eight-thirty and then headed for home, taking another poorly exposed picture of this too many times photographed flower as well as a better exposed picture of another before reaching the Grand Lake theater traffic light to snap a photo of a bicycle rider waiting on the light.
Home to take the selfie and settle down at the computer to edit and post yesterday's entry, a contractor due later this afternoon to check out my balcony along with the other baloneys in the building for damage. Or something like that, this starting with the failure of a balcony in Berkeley some time back where a group of Berkeley students fell to their death when their balcony failed.
Later. The two contractors arrived around two, made some measurements and left ten minutes later. Evidently there is indeed work required on the balconies on the other side of the building and maybe work required on the balconies on my side, so one day soon we'll know. Again, this has been driven by that balcony failure in Berkeley some years ago that led to a law first passed in Berkeley and then later passed by the state to make sure no one else was killed by these things. I've always suspected it will be the earthquake that does us in here in the apartment and not a badly designed balcony (not that they shouldn't fix them).
Evening. Stayed up and watched the entire episode of Vera that started at eight, getting to bed at nine-thirty. This day has been a second day with good energy and fairly easily getting things done. Surprise. They come when they may and I apparently have no control over when or if they arrive.
