Here In Oakland

Art & Life

January 3, 2021

Row

Sunday To sleep easily enough to awaken at fifteen minutes after six, turn on and listen to CounterSpin followed by TUC Radio at six-thirty before getting up and driving to breakfast, finding a slot right in front to park, enter the dining area, turn on the lights and settle in with the papers. Overcast and dark, but warmer for the insulating overcast.

Had the plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee for no particular reason, finishing up just after nine to set out for the car, drive home and take the selfie in the lobby before posting yesterday's anemic entry and starting here. A decent start to the day, getting up and having breakfast out is close to what the pre-pandemic world was like except for the masks and having to hid in the back in order to eat and read the papers. The problem is really with the rest of the day.

Later. Watched the first three episodes of a Chinese fantasy series and actually followed it with some interest. They can be really awful when they're awful. Bailed and watched football for the rest of the afternoon.

Evening. Another nothing on television again and so to bed early, the weather people saying it's going to rain tomorrow morning, but can't quite predict whether or not it will come to Oakland before or after I return from breakfast. Makes it much easier to rationalize driving instead of walking what will then be four days in a row.

The photo up top was taken at the 2016 San Francisco Pistahan Festival with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
