Here In Oakland

Art & Life

Oakland

Tuesday. To sleep at about the right time. I don't remember it turning eleven, anyway. Awoke at six-fifteen to get up and take the blood pressure (looked OK) and get back in bed to listen to the rest of Democracy Now! before getting up again to walk under overcast skies to breakfast, arriving to enter the indoor dining area, turn on the lights and settle in with the papers.

The single pork chop, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee, finishing by nine to set out for home under still fog covered skies and take the usual series of pictures, one of the restaurant owners having recently planted a couple of new flowers.

Arrived to take the selfie in the lobby, take the blood pressure again to find it somewhat higher before settling in at the computer to finish yesterday's entry, post it, process the morning pictures and start here well after eleven. Took the blood pressure for the third time and found it lower than it had two hours earlier. Go figure.

Later. Went through more magazines and old paperwork, throwing out some, saving most. Watched a series on the tablet and attempted to photograph a pigeon hanging onto the netting outside on the balcony on his or her way to a nesting area up above. We'll work on exposure and lighting, but a first try at a photograph I'd like to figure out how to get right in better light.

Evening. Nothing on television (as usual) and so to bed with the tablet, finishing a movie on Prime before turning the lights out not long after nine. I no longer think about whether or not I'm going to get to sleep sooner than later, sooner is the norm, and so another day is done here in Oakland.

The photo up top was taken at the 2013 Gay Pride Parade with a Nikon D4 mounted with a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
