To Bed Early
Tuesday. A little luck - why not? - nothing on last night at nine, so to bed and to sleep at a decent hour, getting up at six-thirty well after the alarm had sounded at five forty-five. But watch, we'll probably want a nap later, I'd bet on it.
Anyway, off to breakfast to feed the meter for being late, back now to do the laundry, the second two loads now in the washer, the day sunny, but the temperature not yet reaching uncomfortable. The fan is still sitting in front of the wide open balcony doors bringing in cooler air, although not for much longer.
The guitar lesson later this afternoon, so the laundry, some practice on the chords and, I suspect, a nap to fill the whole.
Fill the whole?
It's early. We'll still a little foggy yet. A nap might help.
Later. More work on the photographs, the laundry done, folded and hung, off to the ATM over on Lakeshore and then around to the usual place for a grilled cheese sandwich, ice cream and lemonade. OK. Nothing novel in those, the photographs, the same old lunch.
Back without much time left, so I didn't get in any practice, no thought of a nap, off to the guitar lesson where we played Time Is On My Side for half an hour. I wasn't brilliant, but I had no trouble with the chord changes. They're not difficult chords anymore. Practice time over the months, at least, does tell.
Back to finish the photographs after how many hours? Quite a few, let me tell you. I will go back and look at them later, let the head cool for a couple of days, see if there isn't something odd I'm doing with the light and the color. Probably not, we were, after all, shooting in the shade, but I'm seeing something or not seeing something that grates. Still, they're now up on artandlife.
Evening. A Maigret at six, so I sat and watched. No guitar, but we can still get in some later. Another Maigret I haven't seen before, another odd story, but again, the stories don't seem to much matter. With another three of the novellas due to arrive tomorrow, I guess I've been hooked, hauled in and landed.
A walk over to the burger drive-in to take home (another) steak sandwich. Hungry. Warmer inside here now than it is outside, so open the sliding glass doors, put the fan on high. Be nice to get to bed early.
