Straws

Monday. Another lights out at ten to then awaken at six and get up listening as Democracy Now! did another interview with Noam Chomsky on the state of the planet which, for some reason, was more depressing than usual. Not Mr. Chomsky, the state of the world.

Out the door on another overcast morning, the air just a bit blurred at street level by a very low lying cloud, a hint of what I thought might be smoke in the air. Could have been hallucinating from reading about the fires, thinking whatever that was I was smelling was smoke, but it might well have been after listening later a weather report. Sun out there now that it's after ten, but it was quite socked in before seven.

Had the two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, the Monday papers thin as usual, but enough to keep me reading until eight-thirty. The walk home, the usual pictures, but thinking about this rut I've been in now for what are now years (feeling clear headed this morning and so maybe taking a clearer look than I otherwise might). This journal, some of the images, time no longer spent reading or listening to music as I once did. A rut, in other words.

And?

Well, we don't tend to write after about two in the afternoon, so maybe stop this Morning, Later and Evening thing, just write a few paragraphs, whatever it is that seems to come out, and stop when we stop, no editing the next morning. Call it an entry and post the same day. Just like that.

Radical thoughts here.

Well, I like the idea of a journal, even if I've pretty much fallen apart with this one, but maybe see if there isn't some life yet left to it. Skated near the edge writing this when I was employed, wouldn't be doing it if I were still working, employers being employers. But again I digress.

Later. A quick walk to and a snapshot of the construction site near the apartment. They're working on it, but it's hard to see what progress they've been making day to day. Spotted three men working.

Otherwise watched/listened to the news and continued with the never ending Thai serial on the tablet. I suspect I'm the only Netflix user who's watched it, but I'm curious as to the outcome. A “ghost” who's looking for justice in a Buddhist society where the heaven/hell thing is handled in a little different context.

You're grasping at straws to justify this weird interest in it.

The acting and the writing are terrible so it necessitates this grasping at straws.

Yesterday at the Oakland Art & Soul Festival taken with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
