Fireworks

Saturday. Lights off at ten, in and out of sleep noting the fireworks going off in the near distance. Not the barrage we experienced on Juneteenth, not even close, but this is the 4th and we'll see how it goes later tonight. Up and out the door to walk to breakfast under clear skies, they're saying we may reach eighty degrees later, arriving at the usual time to turn on the dining area lights and settle in with the papers.

The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee again, finishing up not long after nine to walk home under the bright sun, a light cool breeze comfortable and so on to take the usual set of pictures less one or two.

The percentage of people I passed both going to and coming from breakfast was higher still over these last several days, so maybe people are paying attention. Still one or two without, though.

People were setting up tables along the sidewalk by the lake, so we'll at least take a look later to see how many people turn out on this Fourth where everyone on the news has been urging caution.

Home to take the selfie and get on with yesterday's entry.

Later. It did reach eighty degrees this afternoon. Watched some golf starting at noon, took an hour's nap around one, up then to watch the rest of the golf round and then set out to walk halfway down the hill to see what it looked like for people by the lake. OK, a walk on farther to cross over Grand and snap a couple of not very good pictures. Turned right around and headed back to the apartment.

Evening. Watched an episode of The Seal Team, a series I've not watched before and don't need to watch again and so to bed after nine to listen to a fireworks war going on by the lake and, from the sound of it, everywhere else in the distant city until after one. Got up more than once to look out the bedroom window and see star shells exploding above the buildings that block my being able to see the lake. Didn't get to sleep until after one. Was half the city at the lake this night shooting off what looked like commercial grade fireworks?

The photo up top was taken at the 2016 San Francisco Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
