Called

Friday. Lights out by nine-thirty (we seem to be getting pretty good about this nine-thirty business) and awakening at ten minutes to six (even better), to get up and set out for breakfast on an overcast morning wearing a long sleeved shirt under the light summer jacket instead of just a t-shirt under the jacket this time. Felt good.

They'd put up another political message on the Grand Lake theater marquee. The press has been covering Biden's lead in the primary race, but haven't pointed out that the followers of Sanders, Warren and the rest of the progressives won't move to his support should their candidate be eliminated going forward. They'd vote for Biden over Trump, who wouldn't, but won't support Biden over another progressive for the nomination. Not sure why this hasn't been mentioned in the political coverage I've read/heard so far.

The restaurant open when I arrived, ordered the chicken-apple sausage, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast when seven-thirty rolled around, didn't finish the papers until close to nine.

Still overcast on the walk home, a pandorea flower by the restaurant finally blooming for the first time and so a picture along with the usual below the school, bicyclists at the 580 Overpass as well as the necessary scooters as we approach the lake.

Which gives you enough copy to add the links.

Well, yes.

Another selfie (ahem, self portrait) in the lobby and then up to futz with the computer to get the pictures downloaded and start with this. Usually taken an hour and a half, often more.

Later. Hungry, for some reason, and so a walk to the burger drive-in to pick up a grilled chicken sandwich to take home for lunch. Haven't done that in a while.

Another take it easy afternoon, listening to the news (what else?), checking to see if they were going to televise the U.S. Open later this afternoon as they did yesterday (they did). Thought of lying down for a nap, figured better not, noted there was a movie I might like to watch later this evening on PBS (the 1931 Front Page) that I've probably seen, but we'll know soon enough.

Evening. The U.S. Open finished at Pebble Beach after seven this evening and starts again at nine tomorrow morning so we'll be watching it through the day. On and off through the day.

I've seen the 1974 version of The Front Page with Jack Lemon and the 1940 version renamed His Girl Friday with Cary Grant, but not this 1931 version. Hmm. Not bad, but I didn't last but thirty minutes before the bedroom called.

The photo up top was taken one year ago at the 2018 Oakland Sex Workers Protest with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
