Here In Oakland

Art & Life

June 29, 2021

Time

Tuesday. To sleep after ten to awaken at just before six in time to listen to Democracy Now! in a reasonably coherent fashion before getting up to drive to the Lakeshore ATM and then over the hill to breakfast, enter the indoor dining area, turn on the lights and settle in with the papers.

The single pork chop, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee just because that's what appealed, finishing up by nine to walk to the car and drive straight home, taking the selfie in the lobby and then settle in at the computer to finish and post yesterday's entry, process the morning pictures and start here, the time now ten-thirty on another overcast morning in Oakland.

Later. There was a story reported on Democracy Now! this morning about the Sunrise group along with members of Congress who picketed the White House yesterday demanding Biden follow through on the Green New Deal package now before Congress. I looked for other stories on it in this morning's papers without any luck and then checked other media for it through this morning and afternoon, again without luck.

Finally found a brief mention on the Reuters news site, but that's been it. They'd blocked all the entrances to the White House and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had made some comments I'd liked in the Democracy Now! report, but none of this seemed to show up in other media. Maybe tomorrow?

Evening. Didn't get out to photograph the construction site just up the street. There's always tomorrow. Tuned into the Indian Doctor at eight. Not sure I'm partial to any of the characters, but it seems to have kept me interested enough to watch it all the way through. To bed just before nine, lights out before ten, my own lights out taking too much time.

The photo up top was taken at the 2017 San Francisco LGBTQ Pride Parade with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
