At Ten

Friday. To sleep soon enough after ten to awaken then at six-fifteen, managing a pretty much straight through night's sleep. Up at the usual time to drive to breakfast (for no good reason), park by the 7-11 store, cross Grand to the restaurant and settle in at my table in the inside dining area.

The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee, the weight doing just fine on the scale this morning, finishing up around nine again to walk to the car and drive straight home to take the selfie, settle in at the computer and go through the morning routine to get me here as it approaches noon.

The N.Y. Times had a piece on the Palestinian children who were killed by Israel in the recent battle, showing individual thumbnail pictures of each of them on the front page and then larger pictures with names and ages on a two page spread inside the paper. Gut wrenching to see.

A stark statement in a sense that the skewed balance of coverage of Israel and the Palestinians seems to have markedly shifted toward support for the Palestinian cause. Nothing quite like this has been run that I know of in the national “paper of record” since Israel was founded. Killing children for whatever reason does not make you any friends.

Later. A walk over to Walgreens to buy more of the MiraLAX laxative and to get the walking in, passing by the lake on the way over to take a snapshot. Not all that many people about on blankets, some tables set up along the sidewalk selling this and that so straight back home to lie down for a minute or two to catch my breath.

Watched the first three episodes of a British series on the tablet and listened to the usual news programs for the rest of the afternoon.

Evening. Reasonably clear headed this afternoon and evening, skipped looking at the Inspector Morse episode that started at eight as I remembered I'd seen it before and hadn't liked it then. To bed by nine and lights out after listening to the NPR six minute news broadcast at ten.

The photo up top was taken at the 2017 How Weird Street Faire with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
