Art & Life

Come

Friday Right to sleep last night to awaken then at five-thirty and listen to the news programs, Biden now ahead in Pennsylvania. Life is good. Let's hope it holds. A walk to breakfast under mixed clouds with the sun sneaking through, the weather people saying a high of just over sixty today with some chance of rain later this evening. OK, all dressed for the cold, arrived at the usual time to sit at my table out on the patio and start on the papers.

The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee, the weight on the scale this morning less than two pounds away from the one-fifty target, finishing up after nine to set out for home under a bright sun and scattered white clouds.

My parents were seriously into gardening, my father building a small greenhouse when we moved north of Seattle onto a two acre property near Edmonds, growing Rhododendron from cuttings and planting them throughout the property as well as growing corn and tomatoes in rows behind the house. My memories are more my upsets in having to weed that garden, little boy in a snit. Needless to say I've not planted any gardens of my own.

And all that means?

Photographing flowers endlessly when walking home from breakfast, flowers I really can't name, is yes, a little odd. For me. To me. My photography bent is taking pictures of people's expressions when they're unaware of the camera and, with the pandemic and the PST from having two cameras stolen from me when I was out on the street walking, that's no longer happening.

Still, snapping the flower pictures and linking them here seems to keep me amused and wondering if it might lead to planting, if not a garden, then filling one or two pots with flowers.

Home to take the selfie and settle down at the computer, putting off writing this until the next morning. So much for energy and ambition.

Later. More following of election news and time on the tablet. Attempted a nap and did zone out for a bit, but no real sleep. The car battery finished charging in the early afternoon and so we're ready to drive by the ATM on the way to breakfast tomorrow.

Evening. Didn't bother to check out Inspector Morse at eight, was in bed by nine, turned the lights out by ten and then spent another night where sleep was very slow to come.

The photo up top was taken at the 2018 San Francisco Anime & Cosplay Festival with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
