Friday Lights out not long after ten with the bedroom windows open and the fan at the foot of the bed, but getting an uneven night's rest, aware of the clock ticking off the hours as they passed to awaken finally not long after six to listen to Democracy Now! as I got up finally and walked to breakfast wearing a t-shirt and light jacket. Quite warm under clear skies, the temperature obviously going to go up sharply by the time I walked back. Arrived somewhat early and so settled in at my table with the patio all to myself.

The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee, finishing up after nine to walk home, another picture of a new parklet being constructed by the pizza bar, fewer flowers to be found along the way. Still, a decent breeze and not so warm as to feel all that uncomfortable, arriving to take the selfie and a second photograph in the lobby before settling in at the computer to start on all this.

They're saying it will get well up into the nineties later, but the air pollution index is quite low with the afternoon ahead.

Later. Ninety-seven degrees at four in the afternoon, the air quality index still (very) Good. Still another afternoon spent sitting or lying in front of a fan, watching a series on the tablet, watching the news (sort of) and wondering when this heat was going to ease up. They're saying not for at least another week, although somewhat better starting Sunday, somewhat better being in the eighties rather than the nineties.

Evening. Took a look at Inspector Morse at eight, didn't manage to last for more than fifteen minutes, then to bed to turn out the lights and see, after last night's uneven night, if I couldn't get a better one if I started early.
