Will

Monday. Not sure when I got to sleep last night, but awake this morning right on the dot at six-twenty, up to take the blood pressure - 125/80 - and head out the door at six forty-five to walk under an overcast sky, quite cool, although the eyes didn't really water or otherwise act up. Arrived just before seven, the restaurant open. Except maybe for the overcast, so far, so good.

The Eggs Benedict, country potatoes, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, more than enough stuff going on in the morning papers to keep me reading until close to nine. Still overcast and cool on the walk home, the three pictures here could as easily have been taken by a robot as a someone who calls himself a photographer now and again.

Mentioned I was going to make some phone calls this morning. Let's see if I get them done.

Later. Made the two calls to two different doctors and all is well. Maybe not “well”, but at least done. Accomplished.

Took the blood pressure at three while standing, as I have all the others, and it was 138/81, then took it sitting down and it came in at 151/81. Took a dose of the blood pressure med, the first in a week. I've been assuming that taking the blood pressure standing up would, if it affected it at all, come in higher. This one taken sitting down was a bit of a shock. We'll be measuring it more often now than I care to think about for a while.

You do have to get your act together on this.

Depressing. A bit.

Later still. Checked the web to find blood pressure will measure lower when you're standing. How dumb a mistake is this? The pressure has always been taken at the doctor's office sitting with the arm supported, the cuff at the same height as the heart, so says the web. I was worried about the machine itself being defective, but not a thought to the fact I've been taking it while standing at the desk. How dumb does one get? It's always been about ten points higher at the doctor's office, but assumed it was stress caused by the visit to the doctor's office itself.

Now you know.

It still runs low on the regular med so we'll see about getting a prescription for a weaker dose of some kind tomorrow. Or Wednesday....

Evening. Watched some short segments of the Emmy Awards being broadcast on NBC, channel eleven, a station I didn't watch at all until recently when I discovered they broadcast some of the golf matches I've learned to like. Liked what I saw of the Emmys. I don't pay attention to award shows, haven't since forever, and so was pleasantly surprised. Probably should have watched the thing straight through.

Anyway, lights out by ten to then not get right to sleep. Some nights are like that, sleep takes its time to arrive and arrives when it will.
